Between £40,000 - £43,000 per annum gross (annualised)

Days & Hours:

30 Hours per week (TERM TIME ONLY)

  • Monday - Friday: 9am - 3pm

This role may be shared between two SEN Teachers, with one covering two days and the other covering three days.

Essential Skills/Traits:
  • Qualified Teacher (Key Stage 2), with a strong background in SEN and alternative education
  • Experience working with children with a PDA profile, and ideally with a background in SEND education, and/or therapeutic support
  • Patience, resilience, and the ability to remain calm and grounded in all situations
  • Emotional intelligence and empathy, with the capacity to form a strong and trusting relationship with B9 over time
  • Willingness and ability to deliver education and engagement in non-traditional, interest-led ways
  • An understanding of how to reduce or remove perceived demands, using declarative language, collaborative approaches, and indirect guidance
  • The ability to support learning through real-world, practical experiences, project-based learning, and outdoor exploration
  • A team-player attitude who can communicate effectively with parents and any wider therapeutic or EOTAS team

Main duties/responsibilities
  • Build and maintain a trusting, respectful relationship with B9 by meeting him with empathy, patience, and flexibility.
  • Design and implement a bespoke, interest-led educational programme aligned with EOTAS provision, tailored to B9’s learning style, strengths, and emotional needs.
  • Adapt educational delivery to be non-traditional and flexible, supporting B9’s intellectual curiosity through practical, creative, and outdoor learning experiences.
  • Use PDA-informed strategies such as declarative language, low-demand approaches, and collaborative problem-solving to reduce anxiety and promote engagement.
  • Support B9 in developing life skills and emotional literacy at his pace, without imposing rigid expectations or structures.
  • Provide consistent encouragement and positive reinforcement to build confidence and reduce avoidance behaviours, especially around learning or unfamiliar tasks.
  • Support regulation and wellbeing by providing a calm, grounded presence and implementing co-regulation techniques during moments of emotional dysregulation.
  • Facilitate and encourage social opportunities in a way that feels safe and manageable for B9.
  • Communicate regularly and openly with parents to share progress, strategies, and feedback, and collaborate as part of B9’s wider support team.
  • Contribute to the development of B9’s independence and confidence both at home and in the community through gentle scaffolding and real-world learning.
  • Maintain a calm and positive atmosphere in the home, adjusting plans and expectations based on B9’s emotional and sensory needs each day.
