Main duties/responsibilities
  • Provide consistent, nurturing care for both children, supporting their emotional, social, and developmental needs.
  • Support B9 in managing self-confidence, emotional regulation, and social interaction, recognising early signs of dysregulation and intervening to de-escalate as needed.
  • Create and maintain structured routines and activities for B9, balancing screen time with interactive, non-digital play and learning opportunities.
  • Engage B9 in activities he enjoys, such as Pokémon, Roblox, board games, and play with the family dog, while promoting skill development and self-confidence.
  • Support G7 in expressing her feelings, validating her emotions, and managing anxiety, especially around control and transitions at home.
  • Encourage G7’s creativity, imagination, and independence through arts and crafts, low-demand activities, and playful engagement.
  • Implement sensory regulation strategies for both children, including movement-based activities, trampolining, crashing onto beanbags, and other techniques to support self-regulation.
  • Monitor and manage each child’s individual routines, energy levels, and emotional state to ensure a calm and supportive home environment.
  • Collaborate closely with parents, school staff, and therapists to maintain consistency between home, school, and therapy programmes.
  • Assist with practical household responsibilities related to the children, such as tidying play areas, rotating toys, and managing library books, while not performing general housework.
  • Plan and supervise activities during school holidays, balancing outings, trips, and quieter times at home to suit each child’s needs and preferences.
  • Build strong, trusting, and positive relationships with both children, fostering confidence, resilience, and joy in daily life.
