Days & Hours:

Approx 30 hours per week

  • Monday - Friday: 3.30pm-8.30pm

One additional night (5 hours babysitting)

Essential Skills/Traits:
  • Minimum of 2+ years SEN childcare experience
  • Extensive experience working with children with ADHD and autism.
  • Calm, confident, and emotionally resilient.
  • Trained and experienced in de-escalation strategies.
  • Patient, observant, and responsive.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Reliable, organised, and consistent.

Main duties/responsibilities
  • Provide consistent, patient, and calm support for B8 and G8 during after-school and home routines.
  • Support B8 with emotional regulation, recognising early signs of overwhelm, and guiding him through meltdowns using low-arousal, patient strategies.
  • Encourage and support positive social interactions between B8 and his sister, helping him engage kindly and calmly with others.
  • Support G8 in managing separation anxiety from her parents, offering reassurance and helping her feel secure during transitions.
  • Assist G8 in developing positive interactions with her brother and modelling strategies for navigating sibling conflicts.
  • Engage both children in activities that match their interests, such as gymnastics, crafting, singing, horse-related activities for G8, and special-interest games or projects for B8.
  • Maintain calm, structured routines that help both children feel secure and supported, reinforcing boundaries with warmth and consistency.
  • Provide one-to-one support during homework, leisure, and playtime, ensuring tasks and activities are engaging and developmentally appropriate.
  • Collaborate with parents and, where relevant, professionals to maintain consistency in approaches to emotional regulation, behaviour support, and development.
  • Assist with light household tasks as needed to support smooth daily routines, such as meal preparation, tidying, and organising children’s belongings.
