Approx 12 hours per week

  • Thursday 9am-3pm (includes yoga) or 11am - 5pm
  • Friday 9am - 3pm or 10am - 4pm or 11am - 5pm (preferable)

Potential for more hours in the School Holidays to be discussed and agreed in advance between Sennie and Family.

Essential Skills/Traits:
  • Minimum of 2+ years SEN childcare experience 
  • Warm, playful, and engaging — energetic and humorous (“children’s TV presenter” style).
  • Builds trust and emotional safety through empathy, consistency, and connection.
  • Pro-neurodiversity and trauma-informed mindset.
  • Understanding of PDA, ADHD, Dyslexia, Dyspraxia, and Sensory Processing differences.
  • Awareness of conditions such as POTS, hEDS, hypotonia, and ARFID.
  • Intuitive and observant, able to read and respond to regulation and energy levels.
  • Skilled in co-regulation, maintaining calm and balance.
  • Creative and flexible, using humour and novelty to encourage engagement.
  • Child-led, compassionate, and collaborative; works closely with family and therapy team.
  • The Sennie should be physically active, comfortable engaging in playful activities, and able to match the child’s energy in an attuned and supportive way
  • Lived experience of being neurodivergent would be an advantage, but is not essential. The family welcome applicants who are curious, empathetic, and passionate about supporting neurodivergent individuals.
  • Provides short weekly progress notes for MDT/AR meetings.
  • Confident driver with own vehicle.
  • Comfortable working independently within the family home.
  • Supports ideation through use of creative, sensory, and playful materials.

Main duties/responsibilities
  • Provide compassionate, attuned, and consistent support for G12 both at home and during outings, ensuring her safety, comfort, and emotional regulation.
  • Foster trust, connection, and autonomy through a child-led, low-demand, trauma-informed, and neuro-affirming approach.
  • Support emotional and nervous system regulation using co-regulation strategies, calm presence, and responsiveness to her energy levels and nervous system cues.
  • Encourage engagement and creativity through playful, humour-based interactions, imaginative activities, and hands-on experiences linked to her special interests.
  • Facilitate gradual, safe access to community experiences and outings, balancing exploration with her comfort and regulation needs.
  • Support physical and sensory needs through interoception awareness, pacing, and a balance of movement-based and calming activities.
  • Use her interests and imaginative play to expand her window of tolerance, build flexibility, and promote resilience.
  • Observe, monitor, and respond to hypervigilance or anxiety triggers, providing reassurance and guidance in a sensitive and non-confrontational way.
  • Collaborate with the family and multidisciplinary team, including Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, Psychotherapy, academic tutors, and other providers, ensuring consistency across home and therapy goals.
  • Maintain brief weekly notes or progress updates to contribute to ongoing planning and multidisciplinary meetings.
  • Act as a consistent, supportive adult presence, fostering interdependence, confidence, and enjoyment in everyday life.
