Between £37,440 - £41,600 per annum gross

Days & Hours:

Approx 40 hours per week

  • Monday - Friday: 10.30 - 6.30pm

Essential Skills/Traits:
  • 2+ years of SEN childcare experience
  • Prior experience working with babies and toddlers, with a strong understanding of early childhood development.
  • A calm, warm, playful, and nurturing personality with a genuine passion for working with children.
  • Experience supporting autistic children who may display demand avoidance and anxiety.
  • Ability to provide co-regulation and emotional support
  • Empathetic and patient approach
  • Confident engaging children in play-based interactions that support development, communication, and connection.
  • Strong observational skills and the ability to adapt support strategies to meet the individual needs of each child.
  • Reliable, proactive, and able to work collaboratively with parents to maintain consistent routines and approaches.

Main duties/responsibilities
  • Build a warm, trusting, and supportive relationship with B7, acting as a calm mentor and companion throughout the day.
  • Assist B7 with transitions between activities and routines, helping him feel prepared and supported throughout the day.
  • Encourage and support B7’s independence in self-care tasks, including personal hygiene and eating skills.
  • Engage B7 in activities that reflect his interests, such as games, outdoor play, and creative or interest-led learning opportunities, including additional fun learning activities in line with his EHCP.
  • Provide nurturing care and supervision for G1, ensuring her safety and wellbeing throughout the day.
  • Support G1’s physical, sensory, and gross motor development through play, movement activities, and opportunities to explore her environment.
  • Engage G1 in age-appropriate developmental activities such as reading, singing, rhymes, sensory play, and early language development in line with EYFS.
  • Encourage and support G1 as she develops early mobility skills, including cruising, standing, and walking.
  • Plan and prepare engaging, developmentally appropriate activities for both children, adapting to their individual needs and interests.
  • Work collaboratively with parents to maintain consistent approaches, routines, and developmental support strategies.
  • Accompany the family on outings in the community or visits to extended family when required.
  • Maintain a calm, safe, and nurturing environment that supports both children’s emotional wellbeing and development.
  • Plan and prepare children’s meals and assist with some light housework and laundry on occasion.
  • Set up and tidy the children’s spaces and play areas after each activity to maintain an organised and safe environment.
