Days & Hours:
  • Tuesdays, Wednesdays & Fridays: 12:45PM - 6:45PM

May require additional support on Mondays or Thursdays (to be confirmed in November). Flexibility for occasional ad hoc support on those days and some mornings during school breaks would be helpful to be agreed in advance between Sennie and Family

Essential Skills/Traits:
  • Minimum of 2+ years SEN childcare experience 
  • Previous experience supporting children with ASD, with a thorough understanding of autistic behaviours, sensitivities, and needs.
  • Ability to engage and entertain children without screens.
  • Skilled in managing separation anxiety.
  • High energy and stamina to keep up with an active child.
  • Good sense of humour and patience.
  • Confident and careful transporting children to/from preschool and therapy appointments, maintaining vigilance in busy environments.
  • Flexible and reliable, able to cover occasional ad hoc hours as needed.

Main duties/responsibilities
  • Collect B4 from preschool and ensure safe transport to and from therapy appointments.
  • Engage B4 in stimulating, structured, and playful activities at home, supporting his learning, development, and interests.
  • Implement strategies recommended by his speech and language therapist to support communication, conversational skills, and language development.
  • Support social skill development, including turn-taking, sharing, playing structured games, and initiating and sustaining play with peers.
  • Help B4 manage separation anxiety, providing reassurance, comfort, and consistent routines when parents are not present.
  • Encourage self-regulation, focus, and independence during daily activities and play.
  • Support B4 during transitions, ensuring he remains calm and engaged.
  • Occasionally assist with meals, including helping B4 with dinner as required.
  • Liaise with parents and therapists regarding progress, challenges, and strategies to maintain consistency across home and therapy sessions.
  • Be flexible to cover additional or ad hoc hours as needed, including occasional mornings during school breaks or days when parents are unavailable.
