Essential Skills/Traits:
  • 2+ years SEN Childcare experience
  • Physically capable and confident
  • Enjoys the outdoors and is happy to engage in messy play
  • Highly creative, playful, and quick to initiate new games
  • RBT training is preferred but not essential
  • Confident in collecting data and able to submit weekly data sheets and videos via Google Drive for professional feedback.
  • Enjoys baking and is willing to support work-experience activities
  • Comfortable around farm animals such as sheep and horses
  • Flexible, adaptable, and able to respond to changing needs and environments.
  • Patient, resilient, and emotionally regulated
  • Willing and motivated to learn through reading, training, and ongoing coaching.
  • Confident and capable in managing challenging or problem behaviours, including in public settings.
  • Willing to follow guidance from US-based specialists, implement strategies consistently, and engage with weekly feedback.
  • Experience with, or training in, PDA profiles is preferred but not essential.
  • Skilled in supporting anxiety and self-injurious behaviours using non-punitive, compassionate approaches.

Main duties/responsibilities
  • Provide consistent, patient, and responsive support for B13 at school, implementing structured routines and strategies tailored to his needs.
  • Accompany B13 to school and support him throughout the school day as needed, ensuring continuity between home and school approaches.
  • Engage B13 in play-based learning and recreational activities that align with his interests, including outdoor exploration, water-based activities, and interaction with animals.
  • Support development of social, emotional, and self-regulation skills, using calm, low-arousal strategies to manage anxiety or distress and respond to challenging behaviours.
  • Encourage B13’s independence and participation in daily activities while providing appropriate challenge in a supportive manner.
  • Reinforce sensory regulation strategies and respond to sensory sensitivities, including avoiding loud or sudden noises and providing calming interventions.
  • Implement and monitor bespoke programmes as directed by Steve Ward and Llangattock School, integrating guidance from ABA, neuro-physiotherapy, and bio-resonance therapy.
  • Collect accurate observational data, videos, and progress notes, and upload to Google Drive weekly for review and feedback from specialists and parents.
  • Take part in weekly feedback sessions with school and specialists and apply guidance consistently in daily routines and activities.
  • Demonstrate flexibility, patience, and willingness to learn, adapting approaches as B13 develops new skills and as feedback from specialists evolves.
  • Maintain a positive, playful, and nurturing approach, fostering B13’s confidence, enjoyment, and engagement in learning and everyday life.
