Essential Skills/Traits:
  • 2+ years of SEN childcare experience
  • Confident supporting older school-aged children with varying needs.
  • Strong level of spoken and written English.
  • Able to assist with homework and reinforce learning in a supportive manner.
  • Flexible and willing to help with light household tasks as needed.
  • Organised, tidy, and able to maintain a clean, calm environment.

Main duties/responsibilities
  • Provide consistent after-school support for both boys, creating a calm, structured, and engaging environment.
  • Support B11 with emotional regulation by using calm communication, helping him recognise feelings, and guiding him through moments of frustration or anxiety.
  • Engage B11 in active play such as table tennis, cricket, sports activities, card games, and chess to help him manage energy positively and build confidence.
  • Encourage and supervise homework for both boys, using engaging, manageable approaches that help Adam stay focused and guiding B7 gently to reduce distractions and build good study habits.
  • Offer patient guidance to B7 during homework tasks, helping him remain on task and using positive reinforcement to improve concentration.
  • Support B7 in developing healthier eating habits by providing clear boundaries around sweets and encouraging balanced choices.
  • Assist with organising school materials, ensuring both boys have what they need for the following day.
  • Maintain open communication with parents about B11’s ADHD medication responses, emotional regulation, and overall progress.
  • Offer calm, non-confrontational support when either boy becomes upset, helping them settle before discussing concerns or next steps.
  • Participate in active, fun play to match each boy’s interests, promoting physical activity, confidence, and positive sibling interaction.
  • Assist with light household tasks such as laundry, changing bed sheets, unloading the dishwasher, and occasional supermarket runs to support smooth family routines.
  • Maintain a tidy, safe, and well-organised environment that supports learning, play, and healthy routines for both boys.
